I was so excited to teach this class, I spent the summer collecting articles and artifacts from the local library and historical society. They learned about the history of their neighborhoods and the origins of the music they listened to.

In Pasadena, Maryland, organizers invited people to a banned books “photo booth” at a local library. Students can be invited to share the local history of the respective site you select. Sojourn to the Past students shared the Jim Crow history of swimming pools in Youngstown. Students as Historians.
