The Digital Promise maker learning team spent some time in Greer, South Carolina this winter observing and filming the Riverside MiddleSchoolLibrary Club students as they worked to design solutions to problems they identified in their community. The following is an edited transcript of that conversation.
Jami Rhue thought her first stint as a school librarian would be a quick detour in her career as a classroom teacher. I have been a reader of dystopian fiction for years, primarily due to my role as librarian to upper elementary and middleschool students. In my role as school librarian, for example, it has affected everything from the library checkout schedule to my collaboration with teachers and even my direct interaction with students.
