Since 2021, the National Council for History Education has partnered with the Library of Congress’ Teaching with Primary Sources program on a nationwide program, “The Rural Experience in America”. One example of the work that will be presented in The Source is students’ discoveries in their hometown of Thomaston, Georgia.

The UC Davis California History Social Science Project frames current events within their historical context , connecting students’ present to the past. They could make a local history wiki or, even better, make contributions to our global information commons by directly creating and editing Wikipedia pages.

We used Annotate & Tell to break down Texas independence and the Mexican-American War, Map & Tell to visualize territorial disputes, and Thick Slides to connect primary and secondary sources on the Mormon migration. We even tied in local history by exploring Clermont Countys own Gold Rush in 1868. Why or why not?”
