To provide more learning opportunities for our students, the Academies @ New Milford HighSchool were launched during my tenure as principal. Think of it as a school within a school. Even before the pandemic, a mental health crisis among high schoolers loomed. According to a survey administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2019, 37 percent of highschool students said they experienced persistent sadness or hopelessness and 19 percent reported suicidality.
