‘Easy to just write us off’: Rural students’ choices shrink as colleges slash majors

The proportion of rural high school graduates going to college at all is falling. Fifty-five percent enroll right after high school , down from 61 percent in 2016 , according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center. Eastern Kentucky University shut down economics and other majors.
