In 2010 Time Magazine published an article that clearly articulated The Case Against Summer Vacation. Even though there is a great deal of research on the loss of learning that occurs during the summer I am perplexed by the fact that many schools and parents are not doing more to prevent this.

‘We must talk about this real history’: Reactions to ‘divisive concepts’ ban

The Hechinger Report, in partnership with The Boston Globe Magazine, analyzed a 264-letter sample to get a sense of both sides. Most (94 percent, or 248 letters) supported repeal, citing concerns such as a climate of fear among teachers and the worry that history couldn’t be taught fully and honestly.
