Students in Mrs. Tambuscio’s World History class culminated a unit on the Holocaust by applying their historical knowledge to the viewing of survivor testimonies. Students were able to utilize IWitness , which is a computer-based program created by the USC Shoah Foundation’s Institute for Visual History.

Have them write descriptive sentences in science, complete sentences in history, and use sentence frames in math explanations. Many of these starters encourage students to consider causation. This is also excellent practice for addressing counterclaims in an argument and a gateway to crafting strong thesis statements.
