Haiku is a form of verse which was developed in Japan. There are several versions of it. The early writers, particularly Basho, focussed on moments of stillness and capturing the essence of a moment in time, in a particular place. Many of them focussed on micro-seasons - subdivisions of the usual four seasons which were often marked by the flowering of a particular plant, or a particular weather pattern or some other small detail which tended to happen within a particular period of the year.

Salzburg is a city I have visited a number of times over the year as part of the ERASMUS projects that I took part in over the years. I have visited at different times of year, with some being during the winter, with snow falling thickly making it hard to drag my case, and others in the heat of the summer months, walking over the 'Sound of Music' style pastures from the university.
