The geography of video games is an area which has received attention from geography researchers over the years. Last year some 3.2bn people played video games, about four in ten people worldwide. The number has risen by about 100m a year, with a big jump during covid lockdowns in 2020. In rich countries two-thirds of people play, nearly half of them women.

Local homes for local people

Burnham Market is a village in North Norfolk which is often described as 'Chelsea by the Sea' as it was long ago discovered by Londoners for second home ownership, driving up house prices and changing the nature of the village. I've noticed these changes in the thirty years since I first visited. It also has a bit of a flood across again at the moment due to the heavy rain, and doubtless some local house construction changing the nature of the drainage around the village.

GTE Conference 2024 #3: Sunday

The Sunday of GTE Conference started promptly with a final lengthy session on Curriculum and Pedagogies. The session was chaired by Emily Rotchell. Nicola Warren-Lee led a session on the GA's Curriculum Framework for School Geography , and Sophie Wilson presented on a virtual fieldwork project completed with Maria Angeles-Rodriguez Domenech. Susan Pike then presented one of the more useful sessions, even though it was not for the English context as she talked through some developments in Ireland
