Challenging Bans on Teaching Black History

In 2023, there were increased attacks on teaching Black history, including anti-CRT laws, book bans, and revisions of the AP African American history course. Good News: People’s History Is Reaching More Classrooms

No wonder the right is upset. More than 10,000 teachers signed up to access people’s history lessons in 2023 , bringing our full registration at the Zinn Education Project to more than 160,000 teachers from every state in the country! This means that young people are learning to read the news with a critical eye, to assess current events through the lens of history, and to see through red-baiting and fear-mongering scare tactics.
