I've thought about opening it up widely—write a historical novelette (using primary sources, of course), create a sculpture, write a song—but, again, I have no idea how to grade something like that, considering the wide range of talent that my students likely will have.

Students annotated laminated primary sources and collaboratively planned essays. I was assigning SAQs this way for AP World History. I’d definitely check. Collaboration with plain old chart paper. They even snapped images so they had access to the info outside of the classroom. for each unit.

I would definitely recommend this article and lesson to other educators who are looking for a way to teach their students about climate change. history with my 11th-grade students, we began the year by corroborating Columbus’s story and used texts from A Young People’s History , traditional textbooks, videos, and other primary sources.
