In my 20 years as an educator, I have seen firsthand how service-learning engages students as they become leaders in their communities.

The American Political Science Association (APSA) hosted their first annual Teaching and Learning Conference in 2005, while the Journal of Political Science Education had debuted the previous year. These citizens have little interest in civic engagement. I was deeply involved in this process. Others were not so sure.
