Blogs are an incredible social media tool that can be utilized in a variety of ways. Teachers can set up a class blog to foster creative writing and reflection, or as an alternative to a school newspaper. Blogs are not isolated to just writing, students can add rich media to posts such as pictures, videos, widgets, and gadgets.
Last year we launched a blog where the students in Europe chronicled and reflected on essential questions, focusing on a dark time in human history. Meanwhile, students and staff back on the campus of NMHS are using the blog as a catalyst for a variety of other learning experiences.
For all of us who routinely leverage social media for these purposes, we are a vibrant part of a globallyconnected community committed to improving professional practice as well as our own lives. This applies to all of us and I know personally it is an area that I can improve upon.
