This summer, the AmericanPoliticalScience Association partnered with Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) District’s Summer Rise Program to offer three highschool students the opportunity to gain experience in politicalscience knowledge production and higher education non-profits.
Thrailkill was a third-year teacher happily settled at Skyline HighSchool in Mesa, AZ, when Lindblom phoned to ask her to apply for an opening at nearby Mountain View High. Not only was Mountain View the highschool from which she’d graduated; Lindblom was a teacher she admired.
In Texas, a school board recently suspended and then voted not to renew the contract of a popular highschool principal, apparently because he declared in a letter to the community that systemic racism is “alive and well.”. Texas’ legislation on teaching social studies , adopted in June, reflects this conservative critique.
