Recent politics has made it hard to extend that work. I have trained in, taught and led educator preparation programs.

Every year the group chooses an issue to focus on.

Essentially, teacher candidates learned that service-learning with a cultural center can balance inquiry with advocacy as a means to learn civic engagement. Learning and collaborating with cultural centers through service-learning projects offer teachers and docents a beneficial partnership.

Students are forming clubs, organizing sit-ins and walk-outs, and engaging in advocacy about all sorts of issues.
