Let their dreams and longings be the starting point for lesson plans, not something that’s cordoned off or relegated to 20-minute enrichment. There’s usually a reason that parents can’t come to school, they’re dealing with their own chaos. e.g., 50 langages at Marshalltown HS, 100+ languages in Des Moines Public Schools.
