Nearly 2 out of every 5 eighth graders don’t even have the most basic math skills, according to the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Boaler also saw math as a lever to promote social justice. In 2022 and 2023, it gave Boaler’s organization more than $560,000. She advocated for change.
