Recessionary cuts in public education restored by 2015-16

The Hechinger Report

According to the government’s report, education spending rose for the third straight year in 2015-16 to $11,841 per student in kindergarten through 12th grades. So, this 2015-16 spending represents a 1 percent real improvement over that previous high point. Meanwhile, other states continued to cut.

Black college presidents matter; we should lead from the top

In a 2017 study by the American Council on Education, a higher education association, researchers found that individuals who identified as something other than white held just 17 percent of college and university presidencies in 2016, while representing 42 percent of students enrolled in 2015.
