Thirteen US residents—Black, white, and brown—mixed among about 30 community members sipping tinto , a traditional sweet Colombian coffee, and listening to testimonies of those who had been threatened or lost loved ones due to illegal armed groups or mining projects. It was 2013, and I was on my first trip to Colombia.
